Last Call hits the Bestsellers List
I was thrilled to see that Daniel Okrent's Last Call hit the New York Times bestseller list this week. I had the great privilege of helping with some of the research for the book. I combed the stacks of Butler Library and spent a few good hours with microfiche searching for details about rumrunners.
My husband, Dan, did much more of the digging, and even tracked down descendents of Pauline Sabin. We both learned a lot from Daniel Okrent about how to tackle the research for this kind of book. (My daughter loves to play with the small sticky notes that we learned to use as markers for key quotes and details in source material.)
Last Call is a fantastic read and proof that people are still reading and buying serious non-fiction.
